At a Dutch municipal WwTW, an enhanced system for nitrogen removal is installed to treat rejection water from the digester In order to reduce the nitrogen load at the water line. The centrate, coming from the dewatering centrifuges, contains on a regular bases concentrations of solids that are too high for and that might disturb the nitrogen removal process. To keep the solids load under the maximum acceptable level, a Salsnes finescreen is installed to treat this feed water.
